CATCH ME IN.. Barre with Babes & Pilates Private sessions. . WHY DO I TEACH: I love Pilates because it creates a strong mind-body connection, and leaves you with a new sense of awareness and strength. I teach Barre because it incorporates all of the same principles of alignment of Pilates, but with a fun, upbeat dance vibe that always lifts your spirits. My goal is to make everyone feel good in their skin, and I teach my classes so that you always leave feeling as amazing as you are! WHAT DO I DO WHEN I AM NOT TEACHING: When I'm not teaching, you can find me reading (mostly mysteries and social justice books), singing and dancing (I have a degree in theatre), hiking or having a glass of wine or cider, and just enjoying everything life has to offer! But my passion is teaching and helping others, so I spend a lot of my free time nerding out on movement philosophies and techniques to bring to my classes. WHATS ON MY PLAYLIST: Most of the time, I listen to Beyonce, Lizzo, Regina Spektor, Florence and the Machine, or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I like a good strong female lead, what can I say? But also, give me some good New Orleans rap, hip hop or jazz and I am in my zone. IG handle: @ryannmoves |
WORK 1-1 WITH RYANN:
Ryann is a movement specialist with experience in multiple disciplines across many fields. She began her movement journey with her Theatre Performance degree at Louisiana State University where she was introduced to aerial silks and circus. She fell in love immediately and started an aerial performance company, practiced many different styles of movement, and traveled internationally to perform. She taught circus and fitness classes, and played an integral role in the creation of the Physical Theatre Program at her university. Though a wonderful and memorable time in her life, she was dealing with a lot of injuries and turned her focus to Pilates style workouts to rehab and retrain her body.
After moving to Halifax, she studied the Stott Pilates method and completed a Barre teacher training to further her knowledge of body awareness, alignment, and functional movement. She will soon complete a Postnatal Fitness Specialist certification, because she saw such a great need for movement teachers with intimate knowledge of how to help mothers re-learn their bodies after giving birth. Ryann believes that movement is the best way to lift your spirits, enhance your mind-body connection, and just feel good. She uses the Stott Pilates principles with the concept of joyful movement to give a fun and educational movement experience to make you feel great in your body.
